Have you ever had something that was fresh, modern yet incredibly retro? Well, Nicolas Ghesquière has just unveiled Louis Vuitton’s Spring-Summer 2020 collection and it’s everything we’ve ever expected the luxury brand to be. Indeed, on this lavish last evening of Paris Fashion Week, the designer set up a minimalist stage, all ready to welcome the hoard of avid show-goers. But the collection was anything but minimalist. With pop-singer Sophie’s song “It’s okay to cry” pumping in the background, the slew of beautiful models made their way onto the runway in pops of patterns and colors that could only be described as trippy and psychedelic. Picture rainbow-colored zigzag sweater vests paired with bouffant patterned blouses and baby doll skirts. Picture three-piece costumes coming alive – but in the most eclectic kind of ways. Better yet, picture prints and patterns coming together to create a whirlpool of colors and icons. We couldn’t help but notice that the pieces were also 70s-inspired, what with the pointed collars, the mustard-y yellows and the loose trousers. Bold, yet incredibly elegant – kind of what Louis Vuitton is all about.
