What Beauty Products to Pack for a Weekend Getaway

You've packed your suitcase and picked out your favorite outfits but unlike men, who can just throw in a razor and a toothbrush, a woman's toiletries sometimes take up a whole carry-on of its own. Here's the ultimate weekend-friendly list to help you narrow it down and keep it simple.

Skin

Take your favorite face wash but you can skip the toner for the weekend. Try La Mer's The Cleansing Lotion which is gentle enough to remove eye make up as well.

Moisturizer is very important since hotel AC tends to make your skin super dry. La Mer's Creme de la Mer Moisturzing Cream is ideal because it's available in a half-ounce container.

You can skip on the eye cream for a couple days and instead dab a little bit of your moisturizer around your eyes.

Essentials

Toothbrush, toothpaste, Q-tips and shaver are no brainers.

Body

Shiseido's Ultimate Sun Protection can be used to protect face and body and is water-resistant for up to 80 minutes. You can enjoy the sun without worrying of getting burned.

You can skip the body lotion since most hotels offer a complimentary bottle.

Most perfumes have a roller option that is great for travelling.

Hair

Hotels provide Shampoo and Conditioner but if you have special needs like sulfate-free or use an extra moisturizing conditioner then buy a travel size.

If your hair is curly and you need a strong blow dryer, you may have to pack yours since most hotel dryers are not very powerful. Remember your hair clips and a round brush as well.

Makeup

You can skip the primer this weekend.

A tinted moisturizer that doubles as a sunscreen is a great two-in-one product. My all-time favorite is the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer in Sand. The Nars Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer is just as great and has a higher SPF.

Urban Decay's Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer is good for travelling because it comes with a wand, which makes it easier to apply.

If you want to keep your makeup light for a beach getaway, Laura Mercier's Tinted Moisturizer is buildable, which means the more you put on the more coverage you will have. If you insist on taking your own powder or foundation for those perfect getaway selfies, make sure to keep them in a secure bag that doesn't spill over. Dior's Diorskin Nude Creme Gel is a good choice since it comes in a compact.

Lorac's Pocket PRO Palette is travel-friendly and all you need for a day to night eye shadow look.

Nars Mini Blush & Bronzer Duo is a wonderful combo for the bronzer can also be used for your crease as a shadow.

Try to keep those little mascaras you get with beauty gift purchase for times like this. For a good branded travel-sized mascara, try Urban Decay's Perversion Mascara.

Take your favorite brushes but don't pack them all. The most important ones are for blush and eyeshadow – take up to 5 ideally.

Try to keep it to a minimum, take only what you really need since you will most likely not have enough space and will also have limited amount of time to get ready.

Tip: Make sure to pay attention to the routine steps you take the morning and night before you travel so that I will help guide you on what to pack.  Then narrow it down by removing things you can live without for a few days. It’s also nice to experiment when traveling, so try and take a fun new item like a new lipstick shade.
