The Beauty Dr. Answers All - Part 2

Have you ever wondered what your dermatologist uses at home? We asked Dr. Ghada Al Jayyoussi of Obagi spa, what is one Obagi product you can't live without?

Although she has a favorite product, Dr Ghada uses a system of Obagi products which includes a cleanser, toner, a glycolic acid peel and a skin lightener. Her favorite though, is an anti-aging mild peel that she uses four times a week nightly. One gram is used two hours before bed. This product is called Retivance which includes retinaldehyde, antioxidant and peptides that targets inflammation, redness and sensitizes collagen. This is one home product that will give you spa-like results.

What is the 'Obaji Blue Peel'?
Blue Peel Radiance
is a mild salicylic acid peel applied over the skin. At first the patient feels tingly for a couple minutes. You leave it on for a couple hours and wash it off at home to get the maximum result. This is great for superficial pigmentation, acne and gives you an overall glow. You will have very mild superficial peeling for a few days. This is a gentle peel but also helps control oil production.

Deep Peel is a stronger peel which targets pigmentation and deep wrinkles but needs to be proceeded by a series of Obagi creams that will treat the skin to prepare for the peel. People who tend to tan a lot, especially in tanning beds, or naturally dark skin toned individuals should be careful about getting this treatment. To prevent post treatment discolorations absolutely no tanning should be done for two months prior to this.

Whether it is a home peel, a mild peel or something really deep, consult the Obagi spa to see what the best peel is for your skin type and your personal concerns.
