Beauty Tips – How to Wash your Brushes

Let's talk about a topic that you may have been avoiding. Do you break out sometimes and you aren't sure why? Let me ask you this. When was the last time you cleaned your makeup brushes? I know this is the last thing on your mind, but your brushes really need to be cleaned once a week to avoid bacteria build-up. This will also keep your brushes in better condition for optimal use.

First step is doing your makeup for the day. Once you wash your brushes you need a few hours to dry them so doing your makeup beforehand is a good idea.

Next, grab a bowl and dilute either baby shampoo or dishwasher soap with a little bit of olive oil. I also love the Beauty Blender Solid Cleanser, it's kind of like a bar of soap for brushes. Dip each brush, or a few at a time depending on the size and turn on the water to a lukewarm temperature. In the meantime, start twirling around the brush in your palm to clean and run through the water to rinse. Do this until you see all the makeup disappear.

While cleaning and drying the brushes, always avoid getting water inside the handle by turning it upside down. Gently squeeze out any excess water and lay flat on a towel with the edges sticking out to dry.

This may take a few minutes depending on how many brushes you have but you will love using your fresh and clean brushes next. Remember, this is as important as washing your face!
