The Beauty Dr. Answers All – Part 4

Can you explain the process of mesotherapy for cellulite?

Mesotherapy for cellulite is great for some patients. Approximately 80 % of the patients can recognize a difference with mesotherapy but it all depends if you are treating red stretch marks also known as striae rubra or white ones known as striae alba.

Striae rubra are caused by overstretching. They result from the damage of the fat and collagen, changing the look of the area. During pregnancy or when you are overweight, they show up at first as brownness or redness. This case can be treated easily with injections that stimulate new collagen or topical Dermapen or Dermaroller. The result is an improvement of 80-90% and the treatment takes 5-6 sessions, 10 days apart.

Striae alba on the other hand are a case that has been neglected for a while. In this case, the striae deepen and widen over time. Basically if you don't fix striae rubra, they turn into striae alba. They can be controlled with mesotherapy but we prefer to combine them with other treatments such as topical radio frequency machines and the Carboxytherapy. These treatments will help reduce the appearance of the cellulite but are irreversible and unfortunately won't give you that stunning effect.
