Dior’s Creative and Image Director for Make-up, Peter Philips, created an intense and graphic makeup look using deep autumn shades for the brand’s Fall 2015 show.
The animalistic nature of the collection was brought out through the eyes explained Philips, “I wanted to instantly draw attention to the eyes by creating a very strong graphic look. It’s a very controlled, very catwalk look.”
Much like the collection, there is a contrast and balance between femininity and strong graphic elements. “This very dense and very polished look contrasts with a soft, luminous complexion. It’s a combination of a certain, rather feminine subtlety, and clear, distinct lines. This association reflects the spirit of the collection, which lies between the expression of fluid femininity and an accentuated graphic statement. ̈

EYES
Using a pre-damped sponge applicator, eye shadow was applied in a large half moon shape across the upper eyelids in 4 shades: kaki or plum shades from the Palette 5 Couleurs Cosmopolite Exubérante, or, bronze and brown from the Palette 5 Couleurs Cosmopolite Eclectic. Next, black eyeliner was applied to the lash line using Dior Pro Liner Pen. Lastly, eyelashes were curled and two coats of Diorshow Pro Black Maximiser Lash Plumping Serum were applied. Then, “three coats of Diorshow Pro Black mascara created the “false-lash” effect,” expressed Philips.
COMPLEXION
The models’ naturally luminous complexion was thanks to Diorskin Star fluid foundation, which was applied all over the face for full coverage. Next, to hide any imperfections, Peter Philips used the new Fix It 2-in-1 Prime & Concealer around the eyes. Lastly, he applied Dior’s new highlighter Diorskin Nude Cosmopolite to create a soft glow.
LIPS
Philips explained, “I also used the Fix It 2-in-1 Prime & Concealer stick here as it gives both coverage and moisture. It neutralizes lip color for a natural, blended look.”
