In my twenties, my best friend and I were shopping in the cosmetics department for a lipstick and we spoke to a salesperson that gave us a speech about preventing wrinkles around our eyes. We probably didn't need it at the time but the fear of one day having wrinkles ingrained in us for good. Every night I would confidently apply my Kiehl's Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado with the belief that I was doing something great for my future older self.

Later in my early thirties I thought it would be a good idea to switch to something a little stronger — worried that wrinkles were just around the corner. I loved using my Clinique All About Eyes Serum De-Puffing Eye Massage Roller along with my All About Eyes moisturizing cream.

The roller ball had a nice cooling effect and made me feel like I was doing an extra step in my routine. The eye cream's Vitamin C ingredient gave off a brightening effect which assured me that I had made the best choice for myself. I always heard people say they would age overnight but I thought this was silly, how could this be possible? Then one day, about a month ago, I woke up with swollen saggy eyelids!

I blamed it on the high sodium food I consume regularly and my lack of sleep. I also kept telling myself it's because I haven't been drinking enough water. I panicked because the warning had materialized so I ran to the nearest department store in search of the perfect eye cream. My hunt lead me to these top three choices in price range order:

1. Shiseido Future Solution LX is something every woman should use as soon as they turn 30. It contains a green tea extract and also can be used around the lip area.

2. Guerlain Orchidée Imperiale Eye and Lip Cream redefines the contours of your eyes and lips. The more you use, the better the results. It wears well under makeup and can be also used for the lip area.

3. La Prairie's Skin Caviar Luxe Eye Lift Cream helps with all skin-ageing concerns; fine lines, wrinkles, loss of firmness, loss of elasticity, puffiness, dark under-eye circles and dryness. Using algae and Vitamin E, this luxurious eye cream is a staple for many women.

When a women asks "What is the best eye cream?", there really isn't one answer. Each woman has different concerns, mine was brightening and lifting. My friends, for example, were getting rid of dark circles.

In any case, no matter which eye cream you use the best advice I can give you is to be consistent. Do not skip this step — morning and night. Even people with oily skin have dryness around the eye area therefore it is so important to keep that zone hydrated.

In case you missed a night's routine, you can brighten up your eyes with Kevin Aucoin Concealer.
