The Best Ways to Grow Out Your Eyebrows

Every time I sit down in a chair to get my eyebrows done, I tell the beautician that I am trying to grow them out. Somehow, it's very rare that I walk out with thick eyebrows. This drives me crazy, especially now that thick eyebrows are so on-trend and youthful looking. Here are a few tips to figure out how to grow them out.

First off, how do you know what your eyebrow's ideal shape is? Grab a pencil and look in the mirror. Go from the side of the nose going all the way up to the beginning of your brows. Draw a mark there to know where your brow should start. Don’t pluck anywhere inside the mark so your eyebrows don’t look too far apart and remove what’s before it so they don’t look too close together.

Next, you need to find out where your arch should be. Grab your pencil again, put it on the edge of your nose, tilt it to an angle and draw an imaginary line through the center of your eye. That is where the highest part of your eyebrow should be.

Finally, line up the pencil with the outer corner of your eye to find out where your eyebrow should end. Many times, we tend to chop off the end of your eyebrows but longer eyebrows frame your eyes more beautifully.

This next tip is something I recently learned myself. This is almost like a mini natural face lift as well. Do not pluck above your eyebrows. I never understood why my eyebrows weren't getting thicker, until I let the top part grow out. I always thought that part was fine and the bottom was over-plucked. Try this for a few weeks and notice the improvement in the lift of your brows. I also use this method when drawing in my brows. Instead of drawing the bottom I focus on adding on top, especially above my arch.

Every time you want to clean up your eyebrows, even if it’s one hair, draw in your eyebrows to get an idea of where you should pluck and shouldn't. Ideally you should stay away from threading or waxing throughout this process.

Growing out your eyebrows takes control and discipline. Leave them alone as much as possible.

Lightly massage your eyebrows when you are washing your face. Sometimes the surface of the hair needs to be unblocked in order to promote hair growth.

Using castor oil and coconut oil to condition your brow hair (and even eyelashes) nightly also helps, but to be honest I myself always forget to do this.

A healthy balanced diet is always great to make hair grow out faster. As a matter of fact, if you see thinning hair at the tail ends of your eyebrows, that can indicate a thyroid imbalance.

You can always color in eyebrows in the meantime, but be patient and go through a bit of a "grow out" phase. You will be so happy with the results.
