Fake It Until You Grow it: 5 Different Ways to Fill in Your Brows

While you wait patiently for your eyebrows to grow into the perfect shape and fullness, what's the best way to fill them in? We all love options, so here is a quick guide to help you choose the best one for you.

The easiest and fastest way to fill in your brows is with a mascara-like wand. Bobbi Brown Natural  Brow Shaper & Hair Touch-Up wand in Brunette literally takes less than 30 seconds to apply. All you have to do is brush about two strokes of this on your brows to not only color them in but also keep them from moving. This can also be used in combination with any of the other options, as a last step to seal your work and add an extra layer of color. I like this method on days when I'm rushing out but I recommend it most on woman who have really sparse brows.

The most common way to fill in your brows is with a pencil. Dior Sourcils Poudre Powder Eyebrow Pencil in 453 Soft Brown is a nice option if you want a lighter shade with your summer highlights. These pencils are great because they come with a spoolie on the other end, to brush up your brows once you are done. With light strokes you can make little fake hairs to fill in your brows. The waxy finish will keep your brows in place.

The next option is my personal favorite, the twist up. Nars Brow Perfector in Caucase (Brown) is like using a pencil except that it has a creamier texture that glides on easily. I love that it's nice and thin making it easier to add natural looking fake hairs. The only downfall is, by the time you find out you have run out of your twist up pencil, it's usually too late. This is why I usually buy two at once and sometimes mix colors. I like to use darker colors on the edge and lighter ones towards the beginning of the brow so it looks less harsh.

Since we are still battling summer heat, this fourth next option is great because it's waterproof. Lancôme Sourcils Waterproof Eyebrow Gel-Cream in Brun 05 should be applied with a synthetic brush. Just like with the pencil, make small strokes that look like hairs. Although this is available in black as well, I always like to use a dark brown color, even on black brows to make your overall look softer. This is also a better option over pencils or twist ups, since it is gentler on the brows and not a single hair will be lost in this process. Sometimes the pencils can pull out a hair or two if you aren't careful.

The last and most natural looking option is the powder. With powder, it's best to use a brush with natural hairs. The great thing about the Tom Ford Brow Sculpting Kit is that it not only comes with a little brush and stoolie, but it also comes with a wax to set the brows. Filling in your brows with a powder is probably the easiest way if you are just starting out. Tap off any excess on the brush and just fill in.

Tip: Brush the hairs down and then up once you are done, to blend the product in really well. The key is to make it look like they are your natural brows, therefore if you feel like you overdid it, grab a Q-tip and just wipe off the top layer of product. Remember to draw in on top of your brow since it will make your brows look higher and give you a quick lift.
