How to Achieve Chloé’s Spring 2016 Carefree Hairdo

The collection at Chloe's Spring/Summer 2016 Paris show had such a strong presence that it only made sense to have a low key hair and makeup look. Most of the models had straight hair, some curly and a few with a wavy beach look. The hair was youthful and low maintenance, as if you were walking in a prairie and letting your hair just air dry in the sun. To achieve this carefree runway look, here are the steps to follow. You might feel like you are not good at curling your hair but with anything, practice makes perfect. Get yourself the right tools and you will soon become a pro.

First, start off with blow-drying your hair straight. Depending on your hair texture, you may or not be able to get away with skipping this step and just air drying your hair. In this case, you would just curl your hair over your natural texture, making sure your hair is completely dry before you do this.

Using hot hair tools can really damage your hair cuticle so I like to use a heat guard before I do this. Another great time to do this is the day following the one when you blow-dried your hair, since when it gets "dirty" it actually holds the curl better.

All you need is two clips to secure your hair. I used to choose big ones but I realized a baby clip does the job and takes up less space in my drawer. You can also clip these on the chord of your blow-dryer since they happen to disappear all the time.

I still love my regular curling iron but for this look I like to use a rod. If you don't know the difference, basically the rod doesn't have that extra clasp on it. It is so important to use a glove with this tool in order to be safe and not burn your fingers! Big natural curls, better known as "beach curls", are only a few steps away.

Grab a small section of hair, I like to split my hair into two halves. I start off on one side and grab the back piece and move my way towards the front.

Start below your eye level since the top should just be straight for this look.

Face your curling iron down and wrap it around away from your face. For example if you are starting with the right side, use your left hand to hold the rod with the power button close to your hand and the opposite end of the rod facing the bathroom floor. Make sure you are gently pulling because if it is too lose it won’t curl it. Count to about 5. Then hold your curl before letting it go so it can cool.

When wrapping your hair around the barrel, leave out about an inch of your ends, another benefit of this look is that you won’t damage them! The most important part of this look is using small one inch sections, it make take a little time but you will see that the more time you put into it the better it will look. Finish off with your favorite hairspray and put on a pretty floral print.
