The famed Chanel two-toned slingback gets an updated look for fall. The only shoe to grace the fall/winter 2015-16 Chanel catwalk, the slingback was given new set of proportions that read utterly modern and versatile. Karl Lagerfeld presented the shoe against an array of day and evening looks. Perfectly complementing leather trousers as well as tweed dresses, jeans as easily as an evening dress. “We leave in the morning with a beige and black, we lunch with the beige and black, we go to a cocktail party with the beige and black. We’re dressed from morning to night!” explained Gabriel Coco Chanel, who first created the shoe in 1957 as the most versatile lady’s footwear.
The simplicity and the sleek structure of its black toe-cap, square heel and thin strap elongate legs while perfecting any ensemble. “The slingback has become the most modern shoe and makes the legs look beautiful,” explained Karl Lagerfeld after the fall/winter 2015-16 Chanel show in March.
The Chanel slingback has quickly become fashion month’s favorite shoe. Seen throughout each fashion week, from New York and now Paris, on the feet of style icons from around the globe. Leandra Medine of the Manrepeller paired hers with a sparkling star embellished Saint Laurent dress, while Miroslava Duma rocked hers with a monochrome skirt suit. Actress and fashion enthusiast Tilda Swinton recently sported the two-tone sling back in an artful photo shoot. Karl Lagerfeld proves – yet again – that Chanel’s classic slingback is the most on trend footwear of every season.
