Giorgio Armani’s second edition of Films of City Frames initiative premiered last night in London in coordination with the 59th BFI London Film Festival. Hosted by Dame Helen Mirren and Roberta Armani, the four short film screenings was followed by a panel discussion lead by admired fashion journalist Tim Blanks.
“The success of the first edition of short film convinced me to pursue the intiative and to offer another great opportunity to young talents who are not yet known and established,” said Giorgio Armani.
Also part of the panel was Mirren, Rai Cinema CEO Paolo Del Brocco and the students from the participating schools, which include Chris Joy (Clarity from Australia), Tommaso Luigi Bianchi (Midnight from Italy), Juliana Valente Palacio (Legacy from Brazil) and producer Go Eun Kim (I love You from Korea).
“Mentoring and encouraging students of the cinema is very important for me,” said Mirren. The legendary designer is an avid supporter of emerging talents ranging in the fields of fashion to cinema. “I applaud Mr. Armani for his energy, love of, and commitment to the art form that is film. So brave to Giorgio and the young talents who will benefit from the support of this Renaissance man,” expressed Mirren.
The premiere was followed by an exclusive dinner hosted by both Dame Mirren and Roberta Armani and held at 3 Olaf Street in West London. Many guests were donned in Giorgio Armani’s latest collection pieces, with some even seen wearing glasses from his Frames of Life collection.
