My wedding is a few months away and I want to try to grow out my hair. Since I have thick, curly, frizzy hair, I always have to get trims to keep it healthy and shiny. How can I keep my hair healthy and still grow it out quickly? Here are 5 tips I found.
1) Use oils to massage your scalp to stimulate circulation, which helps your hair grow faster and stronger. Flip over your hair and massage again, this is called the inversion method. Leave the oils in your hair for about an hour before showering or even overnight. I like to use Coconut Oil because it smells like a vacation but you could also use Olive Oil. Mix in a few drops of peppermint for extra stimulation.
2) Usually hair grows about an inch a month if you don't cut it at all. We put oils in the hair because we are washing it all the time. Try not to wash your hair as often so that the natural oils can do their job.
3) When you do shampoo make sure you are using sulfate-free shampoo which is very gentle but still makes your hair clean. Oribe Ultra Gentle shampoo is great because it is suitable for all hair types.
4) Once you wash your hair, switch to cold water at the end to seal the cuticles.
5) Use a conditioning mask once a week. Phyto Hair Care's Phytokeratine Ultra-Repairing Mask is perfect for dry and damaged hair. I use really hot tools on my hair including a blow dryer and curling iron so this is a must for me. As much as I do love slick straight hair there's something about a flat iron that makes my hair extremely damaged. Stay away from a flat iron if you can.
I know hairdressers always tell me, trim your hair every 4-6 weeks but this time I am rebelling and not cutting my hair. I plan on just trimming my bangs and the layers around my face. Let's try these steps together and see if we all have super long hair in a few months! If all else fails we can always get extensions.
