Pick of the Week – NARS Eyeshadow sticks

It's no secret that this Fall/Winter the eyeshadow looks are bolder than ever. We all want to look up to date but as easy and quickly as possible. One of my favorite ways to achieve what I call "the lazy girl's smokey eye", is by using NARS Velvet Shadow Sticks.

These creamy eyeshadow sticks glide on easily and smoothly, and once they are dry they don't move. As soon as I tried one I had to buy a few colors. I started thinking about my Fall/Winter wardrobe and what would complement my outfits. What makes you feel like it’s Fall/Winter again? Boots? Leather jackets? Or perhaps a little fur? (faux fur of course).

One of my favorite pieces is this dark green fur vest I bought at a vintage store. The color alone reminds me of the cooler months. What does this have to do with eyeshadow? It was my inspiration for buying on of my favorite colors of the NARS Velvet Shadow Stick in a shade called "Sukhothai" (a city in Thailand in case you're wondering).

After years of going between plums and browns, I'm ready for a change. Green eyeshadow might seem a little extreme, but this dark green almost looks like a black and at the same time compliments brown eyes so well. Although it's still way too hot to bring out my boots, I know once the weather changes, this is going to be my go to color. Whether it's a subtle thick liner for day, or smudged all over my lid for an evening look, this is going to be a staple of mine.

Try to reinvent your look every season, either with a lipstick or anything fresh and different. I was never a fan of green but I wanted to get out of my comfort zone. Let this be a way of expressing yourself and your new outlook during a new season, after all every season is somehow like a new season in our lives. Don't be afraid of change or color, you might end up loving it!

Tip: Draw a half moon on the center of eyelid and just blend with a flat brush to smoke it out.
