Jewelers have, for hundreds of years, drawn inspiration from nature and her colorful palette – spring, summer, autumn and winter. They have been fascinated by its fragile creations and set about capturing the hues in nature, the beauty, shapes and textures of petals, leaves and blossoms with gemstones and enamel.

Lush green landscapes, summery meadows, colorful spring flowers, autumnal leaves have often been recreated with painstaking effort into necklaces, earrings, bracelets, rings and tiaras.

Launched earlier this year, Fabergé’s Secret Garden high-jewellery collection is a colourful ode to nature. Hand-crafted jade leaves, precious gems such as emeralds, rubies, sapphires, opals, tourmalines, tanzanites and spinels, along with exquisite enamelling, bring the splendour of blossoms to life. Another delightful series is Chaumet’s Hortensia featuring coloured gemstones, powdery pink opals, bright blue sapphires and rich red rubies to create tiny flowers that sparkle with beauty.

Graff has always turned to nature and flowers. Its Carissa jewels are inspired by the exotic carissa flower and its delicate willowy petals are recreated using pear and marquise-cut gemstones to craft eye-catching combinations in rubies, diamonds, sapphires and emeralds. The frequently recurring floral motif of the camellia flower in Chanel jewellery, sees another gem-studded interpretation in its Jardin de Camélias. While Cartier crafts the Caresse d'Orchidées brooch in platinum adorned with amethysts, garnets and diamonds, Christian Dior continues to be inspired by lily of the valley. Then we have the Rose Passion jewels by Piaget, which are a tribute to the brand’s trademark blossom ‘Queen of Flowers’ and embellished with diamonds, emeralds, sapphires and rubies.

At a time when most jewellers turn to floral jewels, jeweller Bulgari decided to opt for architectural Renaissance gardens and seek inspirations for its high jewellery line. Boxy hedges, trimmed bushes and colourful flowers became muses for Bulgari as it designed its Giardini Italiani collection.

Roses and orchids are frequently occurring floral motifs in jewellery and have been all-time favourites. So, we have curated some lovely jewels inspired by roses, orchids and pretty blossoms that would be a wonderful addition to your jewellery collection.
