How to Care for Split Ends

It’s been about a month since I’ve started to grow out my hair and the results are pretty amazing. My hair has been the longest it’s been in a while but there’s one major problem, I have a lot of split ends. Although I have this huge urge to cut it all off, I will try to control myself from doing so and instead figure out ways to fix it or at least make it less noticeable.

Curling irons, flat irons and blow dryers can do some major damage, that’s why it is so important to use a heat protectant before using any of these tools. Phyto Phytokeratine Repairing Thermal Protectant Spray is so easy to use. You just spray it on and it is activated by heat.

When choosing a shampoo or conditioner make sure to look for adjectives like hydrating, nourishing, repairing etc. Kerastase Nutritive Immersion Nutritive Pre-Shampoo Nutrition Replenisher for Normal to Extremely Dry Hair is a great product to use right before you shampoo. It gives you that added boost of nourishment you hair needs. As far as shampoos go, Oribe Gold Lust Repair & Restore Shampoo does wonders. I like to pair it with Oribe Gold Lust Repair & Restore Conditioner; they’re both sulfate free, promote hair growth but don’t w hair down like some conditioning products.

We have all heard of hair masks but an updated method to treating hair is with a serum. Kerastase Resistance Fibre Architecte repairs split ends but doesn’t make your hair look oily. Use a few drops after your blow dry.

Last but not least ask for a trim. I know we are in the process of growing out our hair but just a clean up on the ends, can go a very long way. Be very specific with your hair stylist. Let him know you are growing out your hair but don’t want to be walking around with split ends. Ask him to just take about a quarter of an inch. Remember that long hair can be beautiful, but dry damaged hair never is.
