IWC Schaffhausen added three new timepieces to its diver’s watch collection. Sporty and dynamic, the “Aquatimer” collection was launched in 1967 and completely updated in 2014 by the house’s manufacturers. This year, the line is being extended with three new models.
The Aquatimer Chronograph Edition “La Cumbre Volcano” will be produced in a limited edition of 500 pieces. Featuring the 89365-calibre movement manufactured by IWC, this timepiece is water-resistant to 30 bars and its chronograph is supplied with a flyback function, automatic winding and power reserve of 68 hours. The wearer has the ability to set his dive time using the mechanical rotating bezel, while the luminescent-coated hands and numerals guarantee the ultimate legibility underwater. This watch is dedicated to La Cumbre volcano on the island of Fernandina, as the case back shows the volcano erupting. Coated in matte black rubber, the stainless-steel case gives this watch a unique feel.
IWC Schaffhausen’s Aquatimer Automatic 2000 comes now with yellow hands and numerals, as well as a black dial. This timepiece dates back to 1982. Water resistant to 2000 meters, this piece speaks to the ambitious amateur and professional divers. The 80110-calibre movement is packed in a 46mm diameter case made of titanium. The engraving of a deep sea finds its place on the case back and a black rubber strap completes the timepiece’s sporty look.
Continuing its series of special editions, the Aquatimer Automatic Edition “Expedition Jacques-Yves Cousteau” pays tribute to the French diving pioneer and oceanographer. As a partner of the Cousteau Society, IWC contributes to the restoration of Cousteau’s famed research vessel, the Calypso, among other things. The watch’s deep blue dial is housed in a stainless steel case. The latter’s back shows Jacques-Yves Cousteau with his signature beanie. Water resistant to 30 bars, the timepiece is supplied with an automatic winding and a power reserve of 42 hours.
