Vacheron Constantin’s Novelties Shine at Doha Jewellery & Watches Expo

by Mirella Haddad

As one of the world’s oldest high-end watches manufacturer, Vacheron Constantin has a history spanning back 260 years. This year’s edition of Doha Jewellery & Watches Exhibition – which was held from February 24th and February 28th at the Qatar National Convention Centre – made for a perfect platform for VC’s to display their latest unique novelties. Known to be one of the most important venues for out-of-this-world jewelry and watch pieces, this coveted fair attracts industry insiders and fans from all over the world. For this exhibition, the luxury Swiss brand chose to unveil statement designs that combined precision, heritage and craftsmanship all in one.

Métiers d’Arts Symbolique des Laques collection is a fusion between maki-e – a signature Japanese art involving black lacquer sprinkled in either gold or silver powder with a kebo brush – and fine watchmaking. Featuring a manual winding system, these timepieces include an 18-carat pink gold case, a black maki-e dial and alligator strap with an 18-carat pink gold buckle.

Métiers d’Arts Les Univers Infinis collection uses the techniques of periodic paving, gold and mother-of-pearl marquetry, as well as guilloché work. Featuring an automatic movement, these watches come with an 18-carat white gold case and black alligator strap.

Patrimony Traditionnelle Calibre 2755 is a manual winding platinum timepiece featuring a silvered opaline black painted minute-track dial, a power reserve on the back of the watch, a 44mm-diameter case and a dark blue alligator strap.

Saving the best for the last, Métiers d’Art Kalla Duchesse is a combination between watchmaking expertise and the art of gemsetting. This mechanical hand-wound watch comes in white gold fully-paved with baguette-cut diamonds.
