For Dior’s Spring-Summer 2016 Haute Couture show, Creative and Image Director for Dior Make-up Peter Philips opted for two makeup looks, one that features strong black eyes and another with sensual red lips.
“The idea was to create a "coup de Trafalgar" and revive the memory of the red looks thus named by Christian Dior, who would send these flamboyant designs out in the middle of a show to take the audience by surprise,” he explained.
To achieve the strong black eye look, Peter Philips used Diorshow Pro Liner waterproof black eye liner on the upper lash line, while the lashes were coated with Diorshow Maximiser 3D base and several layers of black mascara using Diorshow Designer and Diorshow Iconic Overcurl waterproof. For the skin, Philips used Diorskin Star fluid foundation in no10 with a touch of Diorskin Star concealer in no001 and a light coat of Poudre Nude Air. To complete this makeup look, Fix It no001 was used on the lips and Dior Vernis in no970 Nuit 1947 was applied on the nails.
As for the red lips look, the beige shade from the 5-Couleurs Palette n°536 Escapade was applied on the entire eye lid and the complexion used the same products that were applied in the strong black eye look. The nails were also treated with the same nail polish but the work here resides in the lips. To get these sensual red pouts, Peter Philips used Crayon Contour Lèvres Rouge Royal n°952 and Diorific mat lipstick n°750 Fabuleuse. At the center of the lower lip, he applied Crayon Contour Lèvres n°943 Prune Troublant and Diorific Mat lipstick n°590 Troublante.
