Sneaks: The Do’s and Don’ts

If there’s one thing we’ve learned about fashion month, it’s probably the new eccentric trend that is the sneaker flair. Street Style testimonies have proved a long lost love for these sporty-chic shoes and fashionistas seem to bask in their glory.

Now more than ever, trendsetters are moving away from the “dressed to the nines” style and steering towards a much-needed casual elegance. The fashion scene’s newest obsession is now “sneaks”. It’s a trend anyone can rock, day or night. But no matter how cool and voguish your sneakers are, it’s how you wear them that matters.

Since the comfort of a shoe that used to serve an athletic purpose is now a wardrobe must-have, here is our own list of do’s and don’ts.

Do keep your sneakers clean as to maintain a polished look. Sneaks are somewhat messy as it is, you don’t need to add another layer of nonchalance to them.

Do wear them with shorts and dresses as to add character to your silhouette.

Do show off stylish socks with colorful and graphic patterns. A preppy look indeed!

Do wear colorful sneaks with either fluorescent styles or statement patterns to brighten your outfit. An all-black ensemble paired with colorful sneaks is la crème de la crème of this trend.

Do pick chunky soles or platforms. They’re stylish and add a bit of élan to your gorgeous silhouette.

Don’t wear the same sneakers for a workout and for a casual outing. This time around, mixing and matching genres is out of the question!

Don’t pair athletic sneaks with a romantic dress. It’s a fashion faux-pas you must avoid!

Don’t wear gaucho pants with sneakers; it’s all about proportions.

Don’t overdo it, if your sneakers are too eye-catching, then tone down your bottoms.

Don’t wear wedged sneaks, they reached their peak last year and are completely out of style! Yes, we must bid adieu to the elevating trainers!
