Dubai never ceases to amaze the fashion scene as it has now welcomed with arms wide open, the leading international high and medium high-end footwear fair promoted by the Association of Italian Footwear Manufacturers, theMICAM.

The bi-annual fair featured a presentation, gathering Lori Gooding, Senior Consultant at WGSN MINDSET, Gianpaolo Bruno, the new Italian Trade Commissioner to the UAE, Oman and Pakistan and Pier Paolo Chicco, Marketing Manager at MICAM as well as a big army of press and buyers. Following the presentation, an exhibit of historical shoes entitled “The Art of Walking- Shoes Stories”, will welcome the public on the 26th and 27th of May at The Dubai Mall- Ground Floor in front of Paris Gallery, where a wide array of shoes from the International Footwear Museum (Vigevano, Italy) and from the Footwear Museum “Cav. Vincenzo Andolfi” will be beautifully displayed. Guests will revel in the iconic fashionable growth that is the footwear evolution.

Italian footwear sales have risen sharply in the UAE over the past few years, reaching approximately 135.5 million euro in 2015, increasing by 7.9% versus 2014, and accounting for 7.2% of the market. Despite the current geo-political climate in the ME, the UAE continues to be a key destination for international shopping. Italian brands are highly coveted for their superior comfort and unique elegance by the residents and by the large flow of tourists coming not only from the Gulf countries, but also from Russia, China, India and the Western countries,”  said Gianpaolo Bruno, Trade Commissioner to the UAE, Oman and Pakistan.
