Baking Your Face

There’s a new trend in makeup called “baking.” I don’t know about you, but the first thing I think of when I hear the word bake is cake! Unfortunately there is no yummy dessert involved, just a concept that involves using your own body heat to “bake” your make up. So at what point in your makeup application are you supposed to be baking? The most popular form of this is when you are setting your concealer. After applying your eye cream and concealer, add a generous amount of translucent powder such as the Lancôme Translucence Silk Loose Powder, but instead of blending it off, keep it on. This would be a good time to start applying your eyeshadow, since any fall out will be caught in the powder. After a few minutes (maybe you can eat cake while you are waiting here) , dust off your powder and voila, you have baked your concealer.

Unless you are a celebrity being followed by the paparazzi daily, this is definitely not something to do with your everyday makeup, but rather for a special occasion when you will be photographed and want your concealer to be flawless in photos. Personally, I don’t like putting powders over my concealer because I feel like it ages me. I’ve used many concealers in the past and my favorite go to is the MAC Prolongwear concealer that dries matte. I admit, I have been a victim of racoon eyes in photos before so let this be a warning. Many of these beauty trends are fun but they are in fact trends, and not every trend is for everyone. Try this at home when you don’t plan on going out just to experiment and then take a selfie to see if you like it. If anyone asks, you can say you were baking all day.
