In New York, fashion events rarely go unnoticed, and Valentino’s Women Spring 2017 Pre-Collection was an assertive show that dazzled the Fashion NYC scene.

And it seems that Cuba has made quite an impression, as designers are wholeheartedly channeling all their creative energy through Cuba’s irreverent well of inspiration. Following Chanel’s presentation in Cuba, Valentino has brought the very same feel to New York, and more specifically, to Andy Warhol’s former Factory Space and it was more than magical.

Picture a riot of bold patterns and colors splattered all over silhouettes, a seemingly innuendo to the notion of time, as past and present come together to create a beautiful masterpiece. Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli bring Cuba’s exotic scenery to a greatly-appreciated chic collection. Cuba’s mix of cultures is vastly apparent through the outfits, as Caribbean vibes gently infiltrated African portraits and the Spanish love. Evasé skirts and sheer garments invaded the lookbook, bringing Cuba and Valentino’s symbolic flower in a slew of numbers. There were military jackets, white garments, sheer and lace dresses, macramé and brocades and masculine shirts. But it was nothing compared to the Valentino-red outfits that jolted the crowd, yet again highlighting the house’s signature color in a magnificent way.

The collection was nothing short of absolute success, as Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli revisited the notion of time through a series of lavish ensembles and bedazzling motifs.
