This year, Van Cleef & Arpels celebrates its long-standing bond with the world of ballet and dance through its partnership with Dubai Opera, exclusively supporting ballet and dance arts.

Located at the heart of Downtown Dubai, Dubai Opera will witness many spectacular dance shows and will showcase its first two classical ballets, Coppélia on the 15th and 17th of September and Giselle on the 16th. While the two latter will be performed by The Russian State Ballet and Orchestra of Siberia, further dance performances will be held in 2016, including Spain’s renowned flamenco dancer Sara Baras and a Ballet Gala from Béjart Ballet Lausanne.

Van Cleef & Arpels’ tribute to the art of dance sees the light in every season’s creations, as the house’s first ballerina clips were created in the 1940s in New York upon the request of Louis Arpels, who was himself a ballet and opera enthusiast. Due to their success, these pieces soon became the maison’s signature. The bond between VC&A and the art of dance was then strengthened when Claude Arpels (Louis Arpels’ nephew) met renowned choreographer and co-founder of New York City Ballet Georges Balanchine and invited him to the 5th Avenue boutique.

“Femininity and grace have always provided constant inspiration for our creations, giving rise to various artistic collaborations,” says Alessandro Maffi, Managing Director of Van Cleef & Arpels Middle East & India. “We are proud to embark on a new friendship with the Dubai Opera, in bringing the art of ballet & dance to the Emirate.”
