We all want that lustrous healthy hair but with all the abuse our hair goes through is this even a possibility? Well, one thing is for sure, it's definitely possible to fake it. When hair cuticles lay flat, light reflects on the surface making hair look shinier. Remember the flat iron? Lately I have been a huge fan of using the curling wands for all the beachy wave looks. This weekend I dusted off my flat iron for a change and loved the results. Warning: this will definitely damage your hair if you aren’t careful.
1)Start of by using a heat protectant in your hair like the Bumble and Bumble Spray de Mode. I even use a few pumps of Oribe Balm d'Or Heat Styling Shield when I just blowdry. This look is also awesome for when you don't feel like spending too much time blowdrying.
2)Choose the right size for your hair length, the longer the hair the wider the iron.
3)Between Ceramic,Titanium and Tourmaline all will give you great results but Tourmaline makes your hair the shiniest and is the latest technology. I have an old ceramic one and it still did a great job.
4)Stop the urge to go to the highest setting. The best way to avoid this is by purchasing a lower heat one. Go over each area once, going over it several times will cause damage.
5)Use a tooth hair comb to glide through and stretch out your hair before the iron. Do this section by section using your iron in one hand and the comb in the other. Iron from the top towards the floor.
6) To avoid those dents or creases at the stubborn roots, hold your hair towards the ceiling and then flat iron to get a closer grip. I also like to go over those areas with a blow dryer for a bit of volume.
