When it comes to jewelry, rare are the women who don’t find their place in this big, beloved glitzy world. Choosing the right jewels can be a little bit hard and tricky, but we won’t let this stop you from shining bright.

To find the perfect jewelry piece, we have to pay close attention to many elements that constitute it. While Azyaamode will soon provide you with a guide to the right gemstone hues based on your hair color or your eye color, how to match your gem-set jewelry pieces with your outfit, the best jewelry for your face shape and how to pick styles that suit you best, we should first start off by guiding you through the best ways to choose the right gold and gem colors for your skin tone.

You often realize that the same jewelry piece looks different on you when compared to how it looks on your mother, sister or even your friend. The biggest differentiating factor here is the skin tone! The metal or gemstone hue that flatters yours doesn’t necessarily look good on another person or vice versa and understanding that helps you find pieces you feel confident wearing.

Skin tones fall into two categories, cool and warm. How to identify yours? If you are cool skin-toned, your veins will appear bluish and you will notice pinkish or rosy-red undertones when looking in the mirror, while if your skin tone is warm, your veins would appear greenish and you will notice the yellow or green-apricot undertones when looking in the mirror. It is also important to note that dark skin is not necessarily warm-toned.

Now that you have identified your skin tone, what jewelry should you choose? For cool skin tones, platinum or white gold jewelry are perfection. In terms of gemstones, a cool-toned skin looks best with pearls, blue sapphire, amethyst, aquamarine, ruby, emerald, opal, Paraiba tourmaline, tanzanite and zircon. On another note, jewelry pieces made of classic yellow gold or rich rose gold look stunning on warm skin tones, while warm hued gemstones – such as alexandrite, citrine, garnet, morganite, peridot, ruby, mandarin garnet and yellow diamonds – complement them perfectly.

If you are still in doubt about the category of your skin, diamonds are what you should opt for. In fact, nobody can go wrong with this gemstone as it looks stunning on all skin tones! However, always keep in mind that wearing what makes you feel comfortable and confident is always the best of choices.
