In my opinion, the wedding gown chosen by the bride sets the tone for the entire wedding. This is the bride's way of expressing her style and individuality. Once the gown is chosen, the makeup should complement the look of your dress. Whether you are in a simple, chic and elegant dress or an elaborate glamorous gown, here are two different ways to achieve the complimentary look that goes with your gown choice.
Soft and Simple
Foundation:
Choose an illuminating one that looks like natural skin like Christian Dior's Dior Skin Star Studio Foundation.
TIP: Remember not to use anything with SPF in it since it will show up in the pictures as a white glow.
Eyes:
Soft neutral tones or plums are a safe bet. The Smashbox Full Exposure Eye Palette has all the colors you need for the big day in one convenient palette.
Cheeks:
A natural soft blush is ideal as it’s important to look like you naturally would when you wear blush. Dolce & Gabbana Luminous Cheek Colour blush in Nude is a perfect match.
Lips:
Add a little gloss just to add some color to your lips like Dior's Rouge Dior Brilliant Lipshine and Care, Couture Color in Bonheur. This longwearing gloss will keep your lips hydrated all evening.

Dramatic Diva
Foundation:
A semi-matte foundation is perfect for contouring. Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Make up will make you look flawless and was the foundation of choice on Kim Kardashian's big day.
Eyes:
Using the same Smashbox Palette from the soft look, use the darker shades to achieve a more glamorous look. You can also pack this in your honeymoon suitcase since it’s perfect for traveling.
Cheeks:
Contouring, highlighting and blush might be too much for the big day so do a softer contour using a duo like the Nars Dual Intensity Blush. It can even be used wet to achieve a more intense contour.
Lips:
Your lips are usually a three-step process (lip liner, lipstick and gloss) but unfortunately you won’t have the time to keep reapplying so opt for a longwearing lipstick such as Burberry Beauty Lip Velvet in Peony Rose.
If you want a combination of both looks try doing the soft look for the first half of the wedding and then accentuate it to something more dramatic for the reception. Lastly, it's your day and you make the rules!
