Waxing, Laser and Electrolysis:The Good, the Bad and the Truth

We all want soft, smooth, hairless skin and it seems like a never ending battle. After testing out three different treatment options, we are here to tell you our first hand experience over the years.

Waxing/ Sugaring- This is probably what your mom suggested for you as a teen. Don’t you wish you listened to her and stuck to this habit? By now your hair would have been much lighter. This is a great method of removal if you don’t mind a monthly painful experience. Most of us are used to the pain and enjoy the results that last at least 3 weeks or so. This can get pricey depending on how many areas you chose to wax, since upkeep is a must. Also, keep in mind that you have to “grow out” the hair to wax, which can be a problem if you are spending the summer by the pool.

Laser- When hair removal lasers were first invented they sounded like a dream come true. Unfortunately, it was a little bit too good to be true. They do an amazing job of keeping you hairless for a while but chances are you are going back for touch ups. This is a great option for underarms, especially for those with the razor shadow.

In general most laser clients are happy with the results and are willing to go back for a few sessions in exchange to throwing out their razors. As far as price, laser has become more popular and more affordable. Just avoid areas such as face and stomach as these areas tend to grow hair back from hormonal changes.

Electrolysis- So if lasering the face is out of the question, what’s a girl to do? Electrolysis, although takes time and patience, results last forever. Hairs are treated one by one but once they are zapped they will never grow back, yes never ever! It is painful and can cause some redness after treatment but if you commit to it, it’s definitely worth the pain and investment.
