Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you are probably familiar with’ luxurious bags. Truly a treat for the eyes- and hands! And as such, many people are keen to buy an Hermès bag, but suffer from serious FOMO (fear of missing out) when it comes to which style. Even though many of us are determined to own an Hermes bag, but can we differentiate between the classics? Birkin or Kelly? What’s your answer? Granted, we’re not here to make your shopping choices for you, but what we can do is give you a little insight on these marvels, couple it with a hint of history, and you’ll be able to make that choice all on your own.

And so, what’s a Kelly bag? You’ll be surprised to know that this distinguishable piece of luxury was designed far before Grace Kelly used it to cover her pregnant belly. The Hermès Kelly was designed in such a way that women could carry it either in their hands or as a cross-body bag, thanks to its handle at the top and its stylish shoulder strap. It’s safe to say that the Kelly bag is more appropriate for formal occasions, as everything about it, from its closure clasp to its fabric screams class. 

The Birkin bag, on the other hand, followed suit on a more specific pattern as it was specially curated for actress Jane Birkin, upon a chance encounter of the star and Hermès on a plane. She wanted a bag to fit all of her belongings and boy did she get it – and on a silver platter, might we add! Considering its size and the two handles at the top, the legendary Birkin is a great must-have tote for every woman!
