Choosing the Best Blowdryer

If you’re anything like me and your blowdryer is more like a reliable friend than a grooming tool, then you know how important buying the right one is. She travels with you, you spend at least an hour together weekly and if she breaks down it’s a disaster. This is especially important if you have frizzy, curly out of control hair.

Those hotel blowdryers just don’t do the job. These days blowdryers have come a long way from those heavy, loud dryers that are so hot they damage your hair. I still use one of those blow torches only because I find them to be the only ones that can straighten my stubborn curls at the root. But coloring and using heat on your hair can really cause damage, that’s why I have decided to switch to something less damaging.

Here are a few tips when choosing a blow dryer:
-Ceramic heating instead of metal or plastic heating- over time metal and plastic will start breaking down causing the heat needs to be distributed unevenly.
-Ionic dryers create less frizz and static, that’s more than enough reason to chose one
-Tourmaline treated parts will work with the ionic dryer to dry your hair faster
-A dryer with higher wattage (more powerful): think of men and their power tools, here’s our chance to feel macho.
-Using a dryer with a cold setting option is ideal since going over your hair with cool air at the end seals the cuticle and gives you extra shine
-The lighter the blowdryer, the easier on your arms. Although it’s a good work out, try to find something lighter so you don’t damage your neck or shoulders from constant use.

Yes, these blowdryers might cost more than your usual ones, but think of it as an investment and less visits to the hairdresser.
