The play on structured-at-the-waist and volume-at-the-shoulders has been a recurring theme in Paris this week. Giambattista Valli gave those proportions a Marie-Antoinette romanticism thanks to tiny floral prints and mini fit-and-flared skirts styled with off-the-shoulder tops that puffed out like candy-floss clouds. There was all the flounce and flair that Valli knows how to inject into his looks each season, catering to Valli girls and front row guests like Olivia Palermo and Eugenie Niarchos. Barely there black lace lingerie was a recurring feature whether styled over or under tops and dresses.Catwalk favorite Gigi Hadid walked the show in a voluminous black coat worn over high waisted lingerie like shorts and a wispy lace skirt. Evening wear switched from dreamy boho style gowns to sportier slashed-to-the-thigh racerback dresses.
