I admit, I’m not a lash curling pro. I’ve had a serious case of curlaphobia- fear of eyelash curlers. I always thought my lashes are going to fall off from the scary looking device. No matter what mascara I tried, my lashes seemed to be missing something. So I decided to dust off my lash curler, but not without reviewing the best tips first.
After making sure your curler is clean, look in the mirror and bring the device close to your lids, being careful not to pinch your skin. Close it down onto the lashes and count. Counting is important so that both sides get the same amount of curl. It’s up to you how long you want to curl, usually about 5 seconds will do the job.
Once you become more comfortable, curl your lashes from root towards end. Start off at the root for a few seconds then move it out a little further and repeat.
Another method is pumping the curler open and close several times instead of just holding it down.
Some people like to curl lashes after applying mascara but that scares me. What if the lashes are dry and crunchy and they break off? Yikes! What you could do is apply eyeliner on the rubber part of the curler to try to get the perfect line of eyeliner.
Something I remember from High School is using a blow dryer on the curler. This is very dangerous, so if you are someone who still does this, stop! If you insist on doing it, make sure you wait until it has cooled down or you might end up really hurting yourself. A proper lash curler like the MAC or Shu Uemera should do the trick heat free.
Last but not least, do not under any circumstances do this while driving, sounds obvious right? I see girls doing this on the way to work every the morning and it’s really frightening!
