The dreaded blow-dry… One hour of your life that most women complain about the most, unless of course they are treating themselves to a salon blow out. After spending about an hour and a half blowdrying my coarse curly hair, I was on a mission, to cut this time in half. With the right tools I knew this could be possible.
Step 1:
The first step in a great blow dry is a good shampoo and conditioner, I love the L’Oreal's EverPure Sulfate-Free Shampoo line.
Step 2:
After gently combing out your hair with a paddle brush, wait about 15 minutes so that your hair is not dripping wet to cut down style time, take this time to catch up with a friend or use that mask you have been meaning to try.
Step 3:
Once your hair is damp but not dripping wet, you are ready to add some product. A couple of my favorites are the Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum and Kerastase Oleo Relax. A little goes a long way so use a small amount.
Step 4:
A powerful blowdryer is needed for very curly hair, such as the Supersolano or Baby Bliss
brands. If your hair is straight, a generic brand will do.
Step 5:
Use a brush that grips the hair nicely, my favorites are the Ibiza round brushes. Make sure to get a really narrow one for those stubborn hairline curls.
Step 6:
Once you have finished blowdrying your hair, you are ready for a few drops of oil to reduce frizz. Focus on the ends using either Redken’s All Soft Argan-6 or Moroccan oil. These two are my favorites because they also make your hair smell incredible. After this step, try not to touch your hair too much, as you will be taking away the natural oils in your hair.
Tips:
- Don’t forget to get your hair cut when your hair starts looking dry since healthier hair is always easier to blow-dry.
- Enjoy your blow out for a few days by using a dry shampoo such as Oscar Blandi.
- For dry hair that needs a little more moisture but not that oily after feel, spray on some Oribe Finishing Spray.
