Nothing enhances eye color and shape quite like eyeshadow. When choosing an eye shadow, be sure to consider the following steps for a long lasting finish to complement your eye color:
1. Choose the right product. Pigment is key as some eye shadows tend to crease and fade while others stay in place. Start with a base then apply your color. MAC Cosmetics, Kryolan, and Makeup Forever are top players when it comes to color variety and pigment.
2. Texture is important. Metallics and Frost will bring out and open up your eyes, while Mattes will give them depth and definition. Sometimes I like to combine both, but be sure to avoid Frost on tired eye lids as it can accentuate lines and tiredness.
3. Grab a color Wheel and choose colors opposite each other on the color wheel. These are called complimentary colors and work to enhance one another. So if your eyes are brown, anything from bright blues, and emerald greens will complement the brown. If your eyes are blue, brown, peach and copper will add drama! If your eyes are green, opt for pink, purples and rose! Remember complementary colors are used to play it up.
4. Blend your colors well together and allow it to all set. Top it off with your favorite mascara and liner.
