Interview with Asma and Amna Khaled Saif

Bahraini sisters designers Asma and Amna Khaled Saif founded their brand AKS in 2013 to reflect their passion for the French Art Deco era. Their creations successfully blend between their two distinct personalities, as the classic tailored pieces come together with oversized details that distinguish the urban street wear.

For their collaboration with Piaget to launch the Limelight Gala Milanese collection in Dubai, they created two outfits inspired by the stunning watches. Discover what they have to say about their Piaget-inspired collection in the interview below.

Could you tell us more about your second collaboration with Piaget?

The first time we were approached by Piaget, the outcome of our collaboration was very successful. So it was a huge honor for us to be approached again by their team with regards to creating pieces that portrayed their signature jewelry and watches portfolio. Piaget is an iconic jewelry house with designs we personally admire.

What’s it like working together on a big collaboration such as Piaget’s?

We were extremely excited! And the feedback we received was very positive and encouraging.

How did you incorporate Piaget’s know-how and the design of the Limelight Gala to your designs?

It was not that tricky; we started the base of our garment construction on the theme of sophisticated luxury to match the foundation of Piaget jewelry, adding elements of our signature cuts, layers, wraps and fluidity.

What was your priority while creating these two outfits?

Our main priority was not to match the pieces per say, but to complement them with the outfit and the fabrics used. We spent a lot of time "styling" the pieces rather than matching them so that at the end, the client would need each and every piece to stand out.
