How to Apply Individual Lashes

Every time we learn a new technique, whether it’s with makeup, hair or just a beauty tip, it’s always a challenging lesson, especially if it requires a lot of attention to detail. So today’s lesson is about lashes. By now, hopefully you feel pretty comfortable applying strip lashes, but I personally love how natural individuals look, and up until now I was scared of trying them. But, they say the best way to learn something new is to teach it. So here we go!

I love false lashes but since Middle Eastern women are usually blessed with full lashes, the really long ones tend to look a little ridiculous. For this reason, I like to use shorter ones just to add volume and some length towards the outer corners for that cat eye shape.

Once you pick up a set of lashes you like, you will also need some glue. Pointy tweezers are also a great tool to help you apply. I tried doing this with my fingers and it was a sticky mess.

You need something to put the glue on. I usually use the container of the strip lashes, but with these ones, maybe a piece of foil from the kitchen is better. Apply one drop of glue onto the foil, or whatever you choose as your work space.

Pick up a lash closer to the bottom and dip the base of the lash in the glue. Wait a minute for the glue to get sticky.

Start from either edge and work your way in. Using the opposite hand raise your lid and go as close to your lash line as possible, making sure you don’t go in your waterline. Beware of gluing your eye shut (don’t laugh! it’s happened). As far as where to place them, try to go in between your already existing lashes. If you see that you are holding the lash in the wrong place just remove it before it dries and try again. Divide your eye in two parts from the middle. Place shorter ones on the second half or inner corner of your eye.

This takes a lot of patience, so make sure you have plenty of time before getting ready. I recommend trying this on a night you don’t have plans. Trying this on the day of a party is a bad idea because you might end up having to take all your eye makeup off and removing the lashes, which is not fun at all.
