Cleopatra is the queen of the runway and tonight, power duo Tamara Ralph and Michael Russo proved it ever so eloquently, in the midst of their Couture Spring-Summer 2017 collection.

What would have been perceived at first as a nod to ancient times- think white flared robes with golden trimmings- suddenly shifted to a more modern characterization of the female embodiment. Dresses were inflated with puffed sleeves and corset tops, while others showcased a sultrier side, deemed sensual with a tad of sheer, and a dollop of tinsel. With their dark bob and their beautiful statement fringe, the models were walking so assertively that one would think they were out to conquer the world armed with nothing but a fabulous gown and sky-high heels. High-slit dresses were making quite the case, highlighting ever so elegantly the strapless bustiers and the models’ slinky allure. The intricate embroideries on almost every gown made for an exquisite touch, one that wouldn’t go unnoticed amongst A-listers. Colors skewed from white tones to a vibrant red hue, and unraveled into a pastel palette. The combination of halter dresses and the fabulous use of satin fabric made for an outstanding collection.

But when Alessandra Ambrosio came out wearing a superb bridal gown with a voluptuous cape, everything just fell right into place, the Ralph & Russo’s way.
