Carolina Herrera set the mood for her fall 2017 show backstage this morning in New York. Wearing a below the knee black skirt, flat black ankle boots and her signature crisp white shirt with an exaggerated cuff, the woman who has mastered that iconic uptown New York chic opulence, presented a show with a quieter elegance. Prabal Gurung sat front row and Bella Hadid took to the catwalk.
The Herrera woman took her style cues from the prairie girls out on the range and the designer herself. The show opened with white shirts. Lots of them! Some with a pussybow detail, one with a cape collar, another belted at the waist and all styled with black skirts and flat boots. Evening glamor turned up a notch with a contrast of jewel tones like a wispy teal gown styled with ballerina flats, or soft blush shades like the show-stopping floor-sweeping cape gown.
