If you spend hours upon hours watching fashion shows, then you’ve probably noticed that our beloved Cara Delevingne hasn’t been much present lately. Well that’s only because the British model has giving up walking on catwalks and has hence gone from catwalk model to fashion model. Which takes us to the subject at hand; what in the world is the difference between a fashion and a catwalk model?
The answer is as simple as a job description, the route a model wants to follow for a certain period of time. Take a fashion model for instance; her primary purpose is to work with the camera, ergo, to present to the world her best features. Seems like an easy job, right? Wrong. A fashion model has to memorize her best angles, channel her inner-diva and display her photogenic side 24/7. She has to constantly look picture perfect to be displayed on magazine covers and to portray the true essence of a brand.
A runway model – AKA a catwalk model- on the other hand, doesn’t have to sit still and look pretty. Her sole purpose is to represent the beauty of a brand by walking down a runway in a perfected manner. She has to impress a massive audience with her attitude and of course, her ability to strut her looks in sky-high heels. Job qualifications? A hint of gracefulness and a dollop of fierceness!
Which route would you choose?
