Karl Lagerfeld has conquered many frontiers in his exceptional reign at Chanel, so it was only a matter of time before he set his sights on the ultimate fashion frontier – space. To that end, a life-sized Chanel rocket formed the centerpiece of his catwalk show and put guests very much in the mood for Chanel’s Ground Control collection.

In shiny space-like metallics, silver leather was worked into a backpack and mini skirt styled with a silver shearling jacket. The modern-day girl’s space suit was complete with silver glitter Chanel space boots. Tweeds appeared in chic jumpsuits like a houndstooth ankle length piece worn my Gigi Hadid, whilst a crushed oversized leather collar on a black tweed jacket looked like the top of a spacesuit. And just to ensure Lagerfeld’s Chanel really does make it to the moon, the catwalk turned into a launchpad – and yes, the rocket did lift off!
