Did You Know… Chanel’s Two-Tone Shoes Have a Specific Aim?

You don’t have to be a fashion connoisseur to know that high-end fashion House Chanel has been wildly known for its two-tone shoes- created in beige with a black toe cap. For as long as we can remember, Coco Chanel was a woman to revolutionize fashion in all its glory. She created the tweed ensembles, the quilted purse and the ever-so avant-gardist suit for women. Indeed, the famous designer was way ahead of her time! She became so famous for her iconic pieces that her creations made their way into the 21st century, leaving no class or authenticity behind.

Back in the fifties, her two-tone slingbacks were once described by her very self as “the height of elegance”. They were the kind of shoes that could pair well with any outfit, at any given time. They were simply magical, unveiling behind their classiness a very well thought-out aim. So, here’s the deal; the beige color was meant to lengthen the leg while the black toe cap was made to shorten the foot. Mind-blowing, right? The shoes were actually conceived with the help of shoemaker Massaro, bringing the average men style to womenswear- a very revolutionary move at the time. Throughout time, the model of the iconic shoe went through various changes; bows were added, heels seemed higher and shapes differed. Karl Lagerfeld even went as far as experimenting with the colors, using colors such as gold and blue. But one thing remained forever the same: the aesthetical purposes of its contrasting tones!
