Makeup for Pictures: What to Avoid?

Whether you’re taking a selfie to post on Instagram or posing in front of a professional’s lens for a photo shoot, your makeup plays a quintessential role. So,  here’s a list of mistakes you should avoid if you want to look picture perfect!

1 – Don’t apply too much powder because over-mattifying can leave your face looking flat and dull. So in order to look fresh, only apply powder on the middle of the forehead, chin, under the eyes and the sides of the nose. If you don’t succeed at controlling the quantity using a thick brush, don’t hesitate to use a small one.

2 – For full face selfies, avoid making your eyebrows overly opaque and sculpted, as all you need are fluffier and fuller brows. Start off by using a brow mascara or a tinted brow gel to create depth and dimension for each hair. Fill in the sparse spots with light pencil strokes and finish by brushing through your eyebrows to achieve a soft, fluffy appearance.

3 – Avoid using too much highlighter to keep your makeup casual, so apply a cream highlighter on the top of the cheekbones, Cupid’s bow and inner tear duct and always stay away from the center of the cheek and forehead.

4 – On camera, your lashes need all your help. Since short and straight lashes make the eyes look tired, curl them for at least 30 seconds then apply several coats of carbon black mascara to lock in the curl.

Now get yourself ready and strike a pose!
