Some like to go bright and flowery for spring, others –like Ennio Capasa– prefer to keep it dark. While the Italian designer played with cuts and showed a fair amount of skin, he did not flirt with colors this season.

Deep dark maroon opened his show with a diagonally ruffled tank top paired with a mini skirt and a suede-frilled bag. This somber burgundy lingered and was notably used on a suede asymmetrical stitched-together specked dress.

Electric blue soon livened up the display and occupied silk low-cut tops and maxi skirts. The line went back to being mystically black with the exception of baby-blue denim trompe l’oeiljacket and shorts, as well as a purple zip-on dress.

“I’ve always wanted to speak a modern language, to create an instantly recognizable style of my era” – once expressed Capasa, who ended his collection with a mini black playsuit covered with dark maxi frills.

Black is the new black.
