A Rose Guided by a Star: Dior’s Latest Olfactory Creation

Presented in couture-adorned bottles, Rose Star is more than a perfume – it’s a tribute to Christian Dior’s original dream, uniting style, scent, and soul.

The House of Dior has always entwined fashion with fragrance, a legacy Christian Dior himself cultivated from the start. This bond is beautifully revived in Rose Star, the latest perfume from La Collection Privée, created by Dior’s Perfume Creation Director, Francis Kurkdjian. Inspired by Mr. Dior’s lifelong love for flowers and his belief in fate, the scent brings together two powerful emblems of the House: the Centifolia rose and the lucky star.

Kurkdjian associates perfume-making to haute couture, where raw materials are shaped with precision, much like fabric in the hands of a designer. With Rose Star, he draws on the Centifolia rose – a flower Mr. Dior grew passionately in his private gardens – and pairs it with the symbolism of the five-pointed star, which Mr. Dior believed was his sign of destiny.

The fragrance itself is rich with contrast: zesty citrus, fruity notes of lychee and pear, spicy Sichuan pepper, musky velvet, and a sensual honeyed finish. Each element reflects one of the five symbolic facets of the rose, forming a harmonious composition that is both contemporary and deeply rooted in Dior heritage.
