Presented at the heart of the I.M. Pei-designed Miho Museum just outside Kyoto, Japan, Louis Vuitton’s Cruise 2018 collection reflected Nicolas Ghesquière’s love for architecture and all-things Japanese. Think of it as a fashionable “teletransportation”, a grand mixture of design’s multiple facets.

The House has actually been widely known for creating melting pots of art and fashion to design its collections and this one in particular was no exception. While the slew of ready-to-wear clothes showcased Japanese-inspired masterpieces, the series of accessories combined the House’s legacy with designer Kansai Yamamoto’s distinctive touch – think futurism-meets-poetry and vibrant cities versus delicate landscapes.

Indeed, the pieces paint a mixed canvas of tradition and modernity, bringing forth obi belts and a series of handbag and clutches upholstered with Kabuki masks. Kansai Yamamoto, who is mostly known for designing David Bowie’s costumes, reflected his eccentricity through the creation of icons, symbols and characters for Louis Vuitton’s bags and accessories. So you can imagine the amount of fabulousness taking over the accoutrements!  Our coups de Coeur? Surely the newly revamped Speedy and the ever-so exquisite circular bags.

But don’t just take our word from it, sift through the amazing Cruise 2018 accessories in the Photo Gallery below for some eye candy!
