Paris, a city known for its unapologetic love for Couture, has been welcoming fashion endorsers from all over the world – all of whom gathered today to witness Elie Saab in action. Indeed, with the Lebanese designer, it’s always a matter of delicate sensuality; the kind of sensuality that rubs off on you no matter how androgynous your taste is. And that, perhaps, is the designer’s biggest forte: turning the most pared-down people into avid fans. Today, his Spring-Summer show kicked off with a leggy model donning an uneven powder blue voile dress that seemed to be covered at the top with matching feathers. And so the grand show began, as models strutted down the runway in intricately embroidered sheer gowns – an Elie Saab staple – one-sided high-slit gowns defined with fine lines and dresses that seemed to burst with gaudy feathers. Deep-plunging necklines defined a big part of the collection, taking over crystal-inspired gowns, all of which had rich embroideries cascading down. While some of the model sported a bow on their necks, others were given that same elegant effect only with billowing capes and feathered shoulders. Crystal-encrusted pieces were obviously a thing, especially the bridal gown, which was beautifully adorned with an overskirt.
