There is always something in our grandmother’s drawer or her belongings that makes us feel nostalgic and Donna Hourani knows a thing or two about that. In her latest jewelry collection, she depicts that exact scene that fills our hearts with joy and pride. Entitled ‘Jaroor El Teta’, the collection discovers simple, domestic items the designer used to find in her grandmother’s drawer, a talented seamstress and mother of eight children.

‘All over the world there are women like my Grandmother, hard-working and independent, who do what they do without any recognition. These are the women I want to wear my pieces. It’s a story that everyone can relate to’ explains Donna.

Natural, ethically sourced gemstones adorn the collection’s pieces such as tourmaline, citrine and blue topaz. From the sinuous needle and thread earrings to the thimble rings, single labyrinthine hairpin earrings and jeweled safety pin necklaces, ‘Jaroor El Teta’ turns knick-knack motifs into fun jewelry pieces crafted in 18-carat white, rose or yellow gold. And if you think that’s all, you’re absolutely wrong! The designer even paid tribute to her Lebanese heritage through necklaces that use antique silver Lebanese coins.
