Chopard Crafts the Palme d’Or for 2018

The Palme d’Or is known to be cinema’s most prestigious award, and it comes as no surprise that it is crafted by Maison Chopard this year as well. Redesigned by Caroline Scheufele in 1998, this award has become symbolic of a love story that unites the jewelry house with the most glamorous and anticipated film festival in the world.

That said, the house maintains its commitment to sustainable luxury, as the Palme d’Or is delicately made of Fairmined-certified ethical gold. In addition, this year’s event bears a new surprise as the high jewelry house will craft every single trophy to be presented at the Cannes Film festival closing ceremony.

“It’s a magnificent historical partnership. As I used to say to Gilles Jacob, we have become a fixture… just like the red carpet”, says Caroline Scheufele.

The other good news is that, not only will the Palme d’Or and the other trophies be asserting Chopard in its journey to sustainable luxury, as starting June 2018, the house will be producing all its jewelry creations and watches of Fairmined-certified ethical gold – making Chopard a pioneer in this field.
