For CHANEL’s Cruise 2019 makeup collection, Lucia Pica pays tribute to contemporary East Asia. She finds inspiration in what she sees on the streets of Tokyo and Seoul, then uses their raw energy and abstract pictorial qualities to embody light in an entirely fresh approach.  

“I wanted to capture the sensation of being in East Asia; the atmosphere there practically makes you vibrate,” Pica explains. “It’s only once I get the photos developed that I have a true sense of the collection and that it’s so obvious which elements of each image will inspire a particular product. So this is a slightly edgier Cruise Collection, about subtle contouring.”

Entitled “Vision d’Asie: Lumière et Contraste”, it offers luminous shades and satin textures to softly sculpt the complexion. Pica’s love for contrasts comes alive in a selection of exclusive creations for the skin, eyes and lips that embody glamour and summer.
