When I go through pictures from a few years ago, I realize I looked younger, thinner and was super single. No doubt I looked better; but I can’t say the same about my concealer. Not sure if we should blame Kim Kardashian, but I feel like all of a sudden we all had this bright yellow thick concealer under our eyes that made us look awake but not very natural.
So moving forward and leaving all that behind, let’s go over a few rules just to make sure we are over that phase.
First step is deciding if you want a creamy version like the NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer, or a liquid one like the infamous NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer. Although, it’s called creamy, it’s more of a liquid form as opposed to the other one which is thicker and in a pot. The liquid ones are easier to blend out and maybe don’t have as much coverage but still do the job. Unless you have really dark circles, apply a few dots of the liquid version under your eye.
Next, dab don’t rub, either with your ring finger or a brush. I like to use a sponge because I feel like it does the best job at blending it out.
Another important decision is which shade. I am a huge fan of using more of a warm tone like the NW family of colors from MAC. I do like how the yellow tones like the NCs brighten, but I think the best combo is both. For example, I can use the MAC Studio Finish Concealer in NW25, for veins, redness or darkness and then go over it with something light like the MAC Mineralize Concealer in an NC30.
Last but not least, depending on how you see your concealer behaving you may have to set it with a translucent powder.
